We are pleased to announce the 491 bus route yesterday on the 25th of November returned to its old route via the private road at North Middlesex Hospital. This should significantly reduce journey times by up to 20 minutes as the route previously routed onto Gloucester Road led to delays and long journeys from the congestion on the road as well reducing its service to every 20 minutes from 15. Years of campaigning by our group have been calling for this route to be restored to its old routing after the hospital no longer accepted buses serving its private road.
Whilst the 491 will benefit from restoring to its old routing. There are other routes such as the 444 and the 456 will continue to be disbenefiting from not routing via the perimeter despite routing via Gloucester Road northbound. The 456 in particular as the route takes the same anti-clockwise routing the 491 did previously and has recently been invested by TfL to introduce new bus connections to the hospital from the Enfield Town and the Winchmore Hill areas. This may continue risking the investment from TfL being not returned from not routing via the northern perimeter.
We the ETUG group will continue campaigning for improvements to the 444 and the 456 services in relation to the North Middlesex Hospital routings.
