New X34 express bus route

As part of TfL's wide Superloop project, The proposed new express route, referred to as the X34, would be introduced to operate alongside sections of the existing 221-bus route between North Finchley and New Southgate, as well as the 34-bus route between Arnos Grove and Walthamstow. These particular areas currently witness the highest levels of activity on the established routes and are anticipated to experience even busier transportation services in the future, particularly due to developments at Meridian Water.

The X34 service would run with buses scheduled to arrive every 12 minutes from Monday to Saturday, and every 15 minutes during evenings and on Sundays. The timetable for the X34 would be designed to align with a regular day service, ensuring convenient and dependable transportation for commuters. Notably, during daytime hours from Monday to Saturday, the shared stops along the proposed X34 and the 34 routes would see buses arrive at intervals of around five to six minutes.

Introducing the new X34 route would bring several benefits to the community. Firstly, it would provide people with increased transport options, enabling convenient travel between key locations in Barnet, Enfield, and Waltham Forest, in particular North Finchley, Palmers Green, Edmonton and Walthamstow Central. Additionally, the X34 service would offer extra capacity on the busiest sections of the existing 221 and 34 routes, ensuring smoother journeys for passengers. Moreover, the express route would facilitate quicker travel times to outer London transport connections and town centre hubs. Lastly, the introduction of the X34 would encourage more sustainable journeys in Barnet, Enfield, and Waltham Forest, aligning with efforts to promote environmentally friendly modes of transportation.

We encourage those to have their say on the X34 proposal.
