4. Train Operating Companies
I. Govia Thameslink (Great Northern & Thameslink)
93.4% of services are on time, and 7.98% of services are cancelled for Great Northern, and 81.4% of services are on time, and 9.57% of services are cancelled for Thameslink.
The Model Stations Pilot establishes a benchmark for effective stations, featuring clear layouts, well-designed signage, intuitive wayfinding, informative posters, and consistent passenger information. Enfield Chase is part of the scheme.
TfL and the Department for Transport have restarted talks about taking over Great Northern services, but it’s still early days.
Possible improvements include more frequent trains, better performance, and bringing fares and info into the TfL system.
Nothing is confirmed yet; it depends on cost, feasibility, and how it fits with the new East Coast Main Line timetable due in December 2025. The final decision will be made by the Transport Secretary. If it goes ahead, the transfer could take about two years to complete.
II. Greater Anglia
92.45% of services are on time, and 1.6% of services are cancelled.
III. London Overground, Weaver Line
92.8% of services are on time, and 2% of services are cancelled
There’s no formal commitment from TfL or the GLA to the proposed 4+4 service. TfL would only consider boosting peak services if crowding hit four people per square metre, and even then, it would depend on funding, value for money, and priorities. At present, no discussions are taking place about buying extra trains to support such an increase.
IV. London Underground
Testing of the new trains is taking place with a successful run on a tunnel run on run from Northfields Depot to Green Park.
The new Piccadilly Line trains have been delayed until 2026.
TfL has outlined eventual plans for mobile coverage on both the Piccadilly and Victoria line tunnels. This will include the entire line of the Victoria Line and south of Arnos Grove. No timescales have been given, however.
B & J: Has said there are technical problems with the train, as to the delay into 2026.
