Our feedback to the redevelopments of Joyce Avenue and Snells Park

We have responded to the planning application for regenerating Joyce Avenue and Snells Park which is a major £770million regeneration project that is set to provide more than a thousand additional homes in Angel Edmonton and could be decided later this year by the council's planning committee.

Our main concerns are limited transport provisions as well accessibility for the proposed developments. College Close provides the logical pedestrian and cycle route to Silver Street Station for the development. However, there is no crossing at this point, which is frequently used informally and dangerously by pedestrians as a result of the complex crossings at the A1010 junction being far away and inconvenient.

We are asking to provide a new pedestrian crossing as close as possible to College Close to cross Sterling Way to provide better access to Silver Street Station.

ETUG are also aware that there were plans developed by TfL for the installation of lifts to provide step free access to the platforms at Silver Street. We believe that a s.106 agreement should be entered into with the Developer and Enfield Council contributing towards the costs of lifts. This will ensure that disabled people and young families moving into the new estates can access London Overground services. It will also allow for enhanced access to North Middlesex University Hospital from the rail network.
