On the 27th of October 2022, the 125 bus route officially started its electric conversion after months of delays at its garage trying to power the charging equipment. The conversion means it will be the first double-deck bus route in Enfield to be electric and the third bus route to convert after the 184 and the 444 bus routes.
Buses feature USB charging ports at every seat, including wheelchair space, air conditioning, and glazed staircases similar to models seen on the New Routemaster Buses. LED lighting for the bus blinds is a new feature introduced on the new buses which allow the driver to change the bus destination and route numbers more efficiently without waiting for the right blind to show up. This should be upgraded for customer experience for users of the route whilst linking towards Finchley from Southgate and local users from Winchmore Hill reaching Southgate town centre.
From our understanding, it is under TfL's new spec for a bus to be featured with LED blinds for new models meaning there's an expectation more buses with LED blinds could come soon.
